Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser Tattoo Removal Norwich

Our Laser Tattoo Removal treatment uses the exclusive Q10 machine, which is CE, FDA approved and medical grade. The Q10 is a high-power Nd: YAG laser with four wavelengths which effectively removes permanent and semi-permanent tattoos. The Q10 Laser at Norwich Face and Body Clinic is also used to treat an array of skin conditions and concerns. If you have been searching for “Tattoo removal near me” look no further.

How it works

Norwich Laser Tattoo Removal works by targeting the tattoo ink deep within the skin.
The laser penetrates through the skin down to the tattoo and breaks the tattoo ink into particles.
After the ink is broken down, the immune system recognises it as waste and works hard to flush the ink particles out of the body’s system.
With each visit, the ink is broken down further into smaller particles until the tattoo is minimally visible, if at all.
It is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle during treatment to ensure the immune system has the best possible chance to remove these waste particles. The speed at which the tattoo is removed will depend a great deal on this.

All machines and equipment within our Norwich Clinic are Medical Grade, CE and FDA approved.

To ensure maximum comfort, we use the Cryo-Zet air cooler. This state of the art system produces cool air to as low as -35 degrees, which increases comfort, accelerates recovery and reduces side effects.

Common side effects of laser tattoo removal include:

  • Bruising between 1-3 days post-treatment
  • Tingling sensations (similar to sunburn)
  • Blisters, which may dry into scabs
  • Itching
  • Mild skin discolouration

If you experience these effects, it is essential to remember that these are common. Some of the symptoms, including post-treatment blisters, actually indicate that your body is healing as it should. Although these effects may be uncomfortable, they positively signal your skin’s adaptability and its ability to respond to the treatment adequately.

In addition, it is also important to note that directly following the procedure the skin that has been treated will turn a white ‘frost’ colour. Do not be alarmed —this is normal. In most cases, the frosting of the area will only last a few minutes.

What to expect?

Removal of cosmetic tattoos such as semi-permanent eyebrows is faster and requires fewer treatments than standard tattoo removal.

Most clients compare getting laser tattoo removal to having a warm rubber band being flicked against the skin, similar to the sensation of having the initial tattoo.

Although we appreciate this doesn’t sound too enjoyable, we can assure you we have taken every precaution to make laser tattoo removal as painless as possible.

To ensure your tattoo removal experience is as comfortable as possible, we use a specialist laser cooling system before, during and after your tattoo removal treatments to provide pain relief and protection for your skin. This counteracts the sensations of heat that you would feel from the laser.

What Else Can I Expect within the First Few Days?

Your treated skin will be the most tender the first few days after receiving your laser tattoo removal procedure at Norwich Face and Body Clinic. Our laser specialist will have placed a bandage over the treated area, and it is essential to leave this in place for 24-48 hours.

Avoid hot showers, baths or soaking your skin for 24 hours after the laser tattoo removal. When you do shower, try to keep the treated skin out of the direct stream of water.

The area may be red, swollen and blisters may develop on the treated area between one and three days following the tattoo removal. This is normal. However, do not pick or otherwise irritate these blisters, as they will drain and dry into scabs independently. Avoiding unnecessary contact with the scabs is recommended as well to prevent scratching the skin. These scabs commonly fall off between 10 – 14 days after your treatment.

Avoid sun exposure during the entire course of treatment.

To ensure your tattoo removal experience is as comfortable as possible, we use a specialist laser cooling system before, during and after your tattoo removal treatments to provide pain relief and protection for your skin. Many factors will determine the number of sessions each client's unique tattoo will need. These factors include the age of the tattoo, the colours in the tattoo, the density of the ink, the location of the tattoo, patient health, and more. At your consultation, we will assess your tattoo using these factors and provide a rough estimate number of treatments your removal will need. On average, most clients require 6-10 treatments.
Laser sessions are very quick and last as little as 5- 15 minutes, even less on semi-permanent eyebrows. The time it takes to achieve complete removal varies greatly depending on your unique tattoo. A healing period of approximately eight weeks is required between each laser session to give your skin enough time to heal. The rate at which your tattoo fades and skin heals relies heavily upon your immune system. Since your immune system does most of the heavy lifting for removing the ink from your skin, it’s important to stay healthy. Patients with a strong, healthy immune system usually experience faster fading. We recommend drinking lots of water and staying hydrated, exercising, and refraining from smoking to increase your removal results. Full pre-and post-care will be provided verbally and via email during your treatment.
Unfortunately not, we recommend waiting 6 to 12 weeks before tattoo removal can begin. Your skin needs time to completely heal and remove any excess ink. If we were to treat you sooner than this, there is potential to cause damage to your skin. Also, the laser would likely be targeting ink that would be cleared by the immune system naturally.
Q10 Laser tattoo removal is the safest, most effective non-invasive method for removing unwanted ink. Other methods such as dermabrasion and excision are invasive, painful, and almost always results in scarring. On the contrary, our medical-grade, FDA and CE-approved laser uses advanced light energy to safely penetrate through the skin and target ink particles with minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, itchiness, blistering, scabbing and skin discolouration. These side effects are natural reactions to the laser and will heal over the weeks following each treatment. As long as the correct aftercare instructions are followed, your skin will heal well without any scarring.
Yes! We can safely and effectively treat people of all ethnicities and skin types. Our technology is FDA approved for use in all skin types (Fitzpatrick types I-IV).

A high pulse frequency minimizes exposure to the laser for minimal damage to tissues and maintains a shorter treatment time for the client. The Q10 represents the very latest in advanced Q-Switched Nd: YAG and Long Pulse Laser technology and is fast, accurate and, most importantly, safe.
